The Student Chapter @DICA, fit in the framework of American Concrete Institute, organizes the seminar “Looking back helps today’s engineers prevent future structural failures: learning from collapse of World Trade Center”. Professor Liberato Ferrara of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is presenting the event, which will include the participation of Prof. Barzin Mobasher (Arizona State University).
In particular, the seminar will focus on how the buildings of World Trade Center were constructed from an engineering perspective. In addition, the interaction of foundation with the core, the steel columns and the floor systems will be analyzed in order to explain the causes of the collapse.
