The research and educational activities connected with H2020 REMEDI (Trapping and Removal of X-ray Contrast Medium agents from water resource and stream Sediments- New Concepts in Trapping, Recycling and Management), are officially started. The project suggests a multidisciplinary and inter-sectorial approach which aims at investigating and characterizing the dynamics of interaction between the soil-water system and the most relevant categories of compounds used in the pharmaceutical field.

REMEDI is coordinated by the director and also full professor, at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Alberto Guadagnini. Moreover, Monica Riva (full professor), Giovanni Porta (full professor), Martina Siena (RTDb) and Emanuela Bianchi Janetti (RTDa) will participate at the research activities.

Academic consortium partners are Politecnico di Milano and University of Warwick (United Kingdom). TAUW GMBH (Germany), a multinational company engaged in the environmental and remediation technology sector with offices in six countries in Europe, is the main industrial partner involved in the project’s research and training activities. Other industrial partners associated with their expertise in conducting the project activities are: Bracco Imaging (Italy) and BIOAZUL (Spain).
