LAMPO – Lombardy based Advanced Meteorological Predictions and Observations |Final event

LAMPO – Lombardy based Advanced Meteorological Predictions and Observations, guided by Politecnico di Milano, has tested an innovative low-cost system for the short-term forecast of thunderstorms. Its aim was to reduce the impact of overflows and hydrological collapses. This system uses a network of GPS/GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) stations, displaced in the Seveso area (Lombardia) which permit the monitoring of the quantity of water vapor in the atmosphere.

LAMPO final event is the occasion for presenting the main results of the research. Moreover, variuos thematics of the project will be discussed with guests and stakeholders. Some of them are: the topics of the project; the evolution of the strategies for the management and mitigation of the risk caused by intense storms; finally, the usefulness of water vapour monitoring systems in the local area.
