A Bottom-Up approach to foster low carbon UHPC floors

Venerdì 28 giugno alle ore 11:45 presso l’aula Grandori (Edificio 4, piano seminterrato, piazza Leonardo da Vinci 32) si terrà un seminario dal titolo “A Bottom-Up approach to foster low carbon UHPC floors“, tenuto dal Prof. Luca Sorelli (Dipartimento di Ingegneria Civile, Università Laval – Canada).

Abstract

Reducing carbon footprints in residential floors involves optimizing design and selecting eco-friendly materials. This presentation showcases Université Laval’s ongoing efforts to develop low-cement ultra-high-performance concrete with minimal embodied carbon, achieved by substituting cement with mineral fillers and develop efficient structural solutions. The research methodology encompasses microindentation studies, material property enhancements, and optimized floor designs. The results feature eco-UHPC ribbed precast floors and composite floors with timber, offering both reduced carbon footprints and lighter weight, thereby providing sustainability solutions for construction practices.
