Geoengineering
The main research activities are:
- Forecasting, prevention and mitigation of natural risks, with main reference to landslides and floods, including analysis of the various phases of events (beginning, propagation and end); design of underground protection structures considering the action of impulsive loads.
- Geotechnical structures: formulation of design approaches based on structural performance, for modern deep and surface foundation structures; modelling of the behaviour of earth embankments and soil-water-atmosphere interactions.
- Georesources, environmental and underground engineering: advanced techniques of monitoring, excavation, underground cavity stability, modeling of hydro-thermal-mechanical processes for the exploitation of geothermal energy sources.
