Resource Sustainability: Historical and Future Perspectives

On September 4th at 11:00 AM in the Fassò Room (Building 4A, Piazza Leonardo da Vinci, 32), there will be a seminar titled: ‘Resource Sustainability: Historical and Future Perspectives,‘ given by Prof. Ming Xu (Chair Professor of Carbon Neutrality, Associate Dean for Research in the School of Environment at Tsinghua University).

Abstract

This seminar will start with the speaker’s observation of the field of resource sustainability as both a researcher and the editor of the journal Resources, Conservation & Recycling. It will then introduce the TianGong Initiative which aims to develop an open, transparent life cycle assessment background database for China. It will finish with the new research in the intersection of AI and environmental sustainability.

Speaker’s bio

Ming Xu is the Chair Professor of Carbon Neutrality, Associate Dean for Research in School of Environment at Tsinghua University. Prior to that, he was a Professor at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. His research focuses on environmental systems engineering, life cycle assessment, and environmental artificial intelligence. He is the President of the International Society for Industrial Ecology (term 2023-2024) and have been the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Resources, Conservation & Recycling since 2015.
