Chiara Gaddi receives the “Lino Gentilini 2023 Award”

Congratulations to Chiara Gaddi, a DICA PhD student, for receiving the ‘Lino Gentilini 2023 Award‘ for her thesis entitled “Tecnopolo di Bologna: riqualificazione della ex Manifattura Tabacchi di Pier Luigi Nervi e interventi strutturali in materiali cementizi innovativi e fibrorinforzati” (supervisor Prof. Marco di Prisco, co-supervisors Prof. Paolo Bossi, Laura Malighetti, and Giulio Zani). The thesis focuses on the restoration of Manifattura Tabacchi, an imposing industrial complex built in Bologna in the 1950s under the guidance of Pier Luigi Nervi, one of the most significant figures in the history of Italian engineering.

The Lino Gentilini Award was conceived to enhance research in the history of structural engineering with a multidisciplinary, comparative, and critical perspective. Under this framework, works addressing diversified research topics were evaluated, all within a historiographical vision that places engineering works and structural design as the main subject.
