PhDTalks | A Numerical Algorithm with Ability to Solve Richards’ Equation with Nonmatching Grids
21 June 2022 @ 18:15 - 19:15
We are glad to announce that our next PhDTalks Seminar will be held on Tuesday 21 June in room 3.1.5 from 6:15 pm to 7:15 pm CET.
PhDTalks is a series of seminars and discussions between PhD students. The events are aimed at providing a place to network and get in contact with many of the projects developed in our department.
Speaker Yingzhi Qian will talk about “A Numerical Algorithm with Ability to Solve Richards’ Equation with Nonmatching Grids”.
Abstract:
Local grid refinement is necessary for those numerical soil water models based on Richards’ Equation (RE). Among those local refined grids, nonmatching grid have high efficiency, while developing accurate and cost-effective algorithms to solve Richards’ Equation via nonmatching grid discretization still pose challenges. In this talk, we will discuss a new numerical algorithm (VCFVM) to solve RE with nonmatching grids. Showcase scenarios are also carried to evaluate the performance of VCFVM.
You can watch the event online by clicking here.
At the end of each event a small refreshment funded by the department is available.
These events are self organised by PhD students and speakers are chosen on a voluntary basis.
