We are glad to announce that our next PhDTalks Seminar will be held on Monday 9 May 2022 in room 5.1.1 from 6:15 pm to 7:15 pm CET.

PhDTalk is a series of seminars and discussions between PhD students. The events are aimed at providing a place to network and get in contact with many of
the projects developed in our department.

Fabiola Banfi will talk about “A local model of snow–firn dynamics and application to the Colle Gnifetti site”.

Abstract:

Climate changes require to move the boundary of firn models from snow accumulation to meteorological forcings. In this context, we integrated the equations of snow and firn evolution into a local model. This was applied to the Colle Gnifetti site, whose peculiarity is the intense snow erosion driven by wind. In this PhD Talk, the model and application are presented, with a focus on the challenges faced and still to be faced.

These events are self organised by PhD students and speakers are chosen on a voluntary basis.
At the end of each event a small refreshment funded by the department is available.
